Lainnir Wizened

Lainnir is a character who came into my life quite a while ago, and has held on in the back of my head since. She is a symbol of strength and dignity in humiliating situations, especially for women.

Her story, briefly, is as follows: Lainnir was a goddess/queen figure, a leader to her people, and a spiritual guide, until her world was overturned by a tyrant prince who made her the head of his harem. In the midst of all this, she used her position to overthrow the prince and reclaim her position from the inside. This is her many years later, and now she is teaching young girls, and acting as a spiritual guide. Her scars are beautiful, intricate designs. She is not yet old, but the gray in her hair is a sign of beauty and maturity. She is calm, stable.

She is a reminder that no matter what threatment we recieve, we can always tap into that power that is a woman's steady strength.

This piece was a very successful experiment in broadening my use of surface modeling. Happy to announce it is my favourite mask to date. Hopefully it will find a loving owner.
